Viva Insights: Increasing Company Productivity And Wellbeing
Have you heard the news? Microsoft is starting to roll out their new Employee Experience Platform called Viva. In our previous article, you learned what Viva Topics is and how it helps organisations find information faster. Thankfully, there’s a lot more to Viva. And in this article, we will dive down into the next interesting functionality – Viva Insights.

Insights About Productivity And Well-being

As the name suggests, Viva Insights is an AI-driven way to provide interesting insights on a personal and organisational level to make better decisions. Last year’s surge of home workers brought a decrease in productivity for many companies. It turns out not everyone can stay focused amidst screaming kids, dirty laundry, and with Netflix just a hop away from the kitchen home office. And for organisations, keeping track of remote workers without the right tools is tricky. With Viva Insights, you get valuable information in two ways. Firstly, it tells you how you’re doing on a weekly basis. Insights delivery reports directly to your inbox, telling you how much focus time you had for deep work and if there were too many meetings. You also get information on co-workers you have collaborated and chatted with, and can also see if you’ve been distracted by notifications. On a second, higher level, you get organisational insights, which is perfect for managers and the C-suite to assess a company’s overall productivity. Insights tells you when your workers typically perform at their best and how. If there are obvious bottlenecks to productivity, Viva Insights will let you know so you can make the right informed decisions.

Finding The Balance

Is Viva Insights a new way of micromanaging or tracking employees? Not at all. But it does require a mindset shift from managers. It’s not about tracking every little thing your employees do and breathing down their necks to get the thing done (please don’t). It’s about assessing what you can do as a manager and company to help your employees feel great and perform at their best. However, there’s a fine line between employee happiness and productivity. And companies often struggle to find a good balance. On the one hand, happy employees are better employees – there’s no denying that. But, on the other hand, the business needs to run fluidly. Sending your entire company to yoga every Friday afternoon might be great, but if there are deadlines at four in the afternoon, who will make sure the work gets done? The trick is balancing wellbeing with productivity. And Viva Insights can help you. For example, if you see a surge of productivity after half-days, you might want to investigate giving out half-days when reaching milestones. Or Mondays might be filled with meetings which directly correlates with a massive drop in productivity. If you want the best healthful productivity for your organisation, Viva Insights can show you the way. Right now, Viva Insights is only available for a personal level, not organisational. So it’s not clear what the cost will be for the latter. But according to some first information, the tool will start for larger organisations with special Microsoft agreements. Hopefully, that will change as those organisations start reporting on the immense benefits these insights give. Want more information about Microsoft Viva? Contact us today!
