LinkedIn is using your personal data to train AI – should you opt out?
LinkedIn has announced that it will use publicly visible user content — such as posts, comments, and reactions — to train its AI models. By default, users are opted in, meaning your data will be used unless you explicitly choose to opt out.
Why this matters
While your LinkedIn posts are public, there’s a key difference when it comes to AI training:
- Public posts can be deleted — you’re in control.
- AI training data is permanent — once your content is used, it becomes part of models that you cannot access or erase.
This shift means your professional insights and opinions could be embedded in systems you have no visibility into.
