Convert WordPress to a static website in one day

On 21 October 2026, WordPress sites around the world went offline because of a critical vulnerability in PHP. We also switched off our WordPress platform that day as a precaution until the patch was available. That flaw is now fixed, but the next one is sure to come. The only way to be rid of it for good is to stop running PHP. In this article you read how we convert a WordPress site to a static website, often within one day.

Why WordPress keeps being vulnerable

WordPress only builds a page when a visitor requests it. That takes PHP, a database and often dozens of plugins running on your web server. Each of those parts can contain a vulnerability:

  • PHP itself, as with the PHP vulnerability of October 2026, which affected every site on an unpatched version.
  • Plugins and themes, often maintained by small parties and sometimes left without updates for years.
  • The login page and the database, which attackers scan automatically for weak passwords and SQL injection.

That means: keep patching, keep updating and hope you are on time. And when it goes wrong, as on 21 October, your site can be offline for a day in the worst case.

What a static website does differently

A static website consists of ready-made HTML files. No PHP runs, there is no database and there are no plugins. Visitors only receive files, and there is little to break into. Read more about why a static site is more secure than a CMS.

The downside used to be that every change needed a developer. uCompose solves that: you describe in plain language what needs to change, see the result in a live preview and publish with one click.

How we convert your WordPress site in one day

All you need to give us is the address of your current website. We do not need a WordPress login, export or database dump.

  1. We fetch your site as visitors see it: all pages, all languages, images, documents and redirects.
  2. We rebuild it as a static site, with the same structure, the same texts and the same URLs.
  3. We compare every page with your live site, so your new site looks the same.
  4. You review it in a preview and give your approval.
  5. We put the new site live and set up uCompose for you, so you can edit it yourself from day one.

We promise you are live within 48 hours. In practice it often takes less than a day.

Who went before you

In recent weeks we moved these organisations, among others, from WordPress to a static site on uCompose within a day:

  • A construction company
  • A logistics organisation
  • A consultancy firm
  • A retail organisation

None of them has to patch for the next PHP or plugin vulnerability.

What you get in return

  • No PHP, no plugins and no updates: the biggest attack routes on WordPress disappear.
  • Hosting, SSL and daily backups included: you no longer need a separate hosting provider.
  • Edit it yourself in plain language: no technical knowledge needed, with version history so you can always go back.
  • A fast site: static pages load instantly, and visitors and Google notice.

The conversion is a one-off €495 (€395 for existing Universal customers). After that you pay a subscription from €19 per month. See the plans on the uCompose page.

Ready to switch?

Send us the address of your WordPress site via the contact form or email support@universal.cloud. We will show you what your site looks like as a static site, so you are ready for the next vulnerability before it arrives.

Frequently asked questions

How do I convert WordPress to a static website?

You can use a plugin that exports HTML files, but WordPress then keeps running in the background and you have to export again after every change. With uCompose we convert your site based on its live URL: all pages, languages, images and redirects. After that there is no WordPress and no PHP running any more, and you manage the site yourself in uCompose.

How long does it take to convert WordPress to a static site?

We promise you are live within 48 hours. In practice it often takes less than a day: in recent weeks we converted the sites of a construction company, a logistics organisation, a consultancy firm and a retail organisation within a day.

What do you need to convert my WordPress site?

Only the address of your current website. We do not need a WordPress login, export or database dump. We fetch the site as visitors see it and rebuild it as a static site.

Will I lose my Google rankings if I switch?

We try to prevent that by keeping your existing URLs and carrying over redirects. A static site also loads fast, which counts for Google. After the switch you resubmit the sitemap so Google picks up the new version quickly.

Can I still edit my website myself afterwards?

Yes. In uCompose you describe in plain language what needs to change, check the result in a live preview and publish with one click. You need no technical knowledge, plugins or updates.

What does it cost to convert WordPress to uCompose?

The conversion is a one-off €495 (€395 for existing Universal customers). After that you pay a subscription from €19 per month, including hosting, SSL, daily backups and editing the site yourself.

Is a static website safe from the next PHP vulnerability?

Yes. A static website consists of pre-generated HTML files. No PHP, no database and no plugin runs on your public website, so vulnerabilities such as the PHP flaw of October 2026 (CVE-2026-109618 and CVE-2026-109619) have nothing to target.
